Trabzonspor is calling for the ban on supporters to be lifted for its match against Beşiktaş, scheduled for next Monday. The eighth-round fixture in the Turkish league pits fifth-placed Trabzonspor, on 13 points, against second-placed Beşiktaş, who have 15.
The club argues that there is no reason to prevent supporters of either team from attending their side’s matches, whether in Trabzon or Istanbul. In its statement, Trabzonspor said: « Il n’existe aucun problème entre les supporters des clubs Trabzonspor et Beşiktaş qui empêche les supporters des deux équipes d’assister aux matchs de l’une et de l’autre dans les tribunes. »
The club also wants Beşiktaş fans to be able to support their team in Trabzon at the match played at its stadium on Monday, 19 October, and Trabzonspor supporters to do the same in Istanbul. It says the restriction should be ended permanently: « Nous sommes convaincus qu’il est nécessaire de lever définitivement l’interdiction de présence des supporters des équipes visiteuses dans les stades turcs, car cette mesure ne correspond pas à l’esprit du football et des tribunes. »
Trabzonspor concluded by urging the relevant officials, particularly the province of Trabzon, to support the request and take the necessary steps. The club’s appeal concerns both the match against Beşiktaş and the broader presence of visiting supporters in Turkish stadiums.
