A player is being tipped to return against Togo, whom the national team will face twice on the 14th and 17th of next month. The matches are part of the third and fourth rounds of qualifying for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations. The comeback is a possibility, not a confirmed selection.
Separately, Hicham Boudaoui could rejoin the national team next November. The Algerian midfielder has recovered some of his technical ability after being left out by coach Ibrahim Hamdani for the last three matches against Zambia, Burundi and Niger. Hamdani had felt Boudaoui was short of the required physical and technical level, while also wanting to try other players.
Boudaoui made a positive impression on Sunday evening in Nice’s match against Strasbourg, in the sixth round of the French league. He came on in the 37th minute after a teammate was injured and contributed to Nice’s 2-1 win. After the match, Nice coach Olivier Pantaloni praised his contribution: “In general, I think the substitutes were excellent. Hicham was a valuable presence in midfield, thanks to his technical ability and precise passing.”
