Several Verts have returned to club football short of playing time, with the futures of some now uncertain. After the international break, their situation has become uncomfortable: the return to European leagues proved difficult for those who featured in the three African matches, most of which were disappointing for Ibrahim Hamdani’s players. Hopes that they would rediscover their best form in Europe were largely dashed.

Belloumi, described as a shining star, began on the bench in Everton’s home match. Hadjam, meanwhile, came on in the 88th minute to help his team defend after a Brighton player was sent off. His club won at Sunderland, and a fine goal from Hadjam helped ease the pressure on the team. But his prospects of getting substantial playing time remain uncertain: his club is producing surprising results and currently sits third, behind Manchester City and Arsenal.

Bensebaini was not brought on and watched the match from the bench. Rami Bensebaini’s club currently leads, two points ahead of Bayern Munich. As for Hadjam, his club’s performances have led some to predict that it could repeat Leicester City’s achievement in 2016.
