Gianni Infantino, president of the international football federation, is at the centre of renewed scrutiny over his remuneration. He has been accused of committing a “fresh flagrant breach of FIFA regulations” after a payment of £1.3 million came to light, in addition to declared income of £4 million.

The extra sums are said to have come from a FIFA subsidiary responsible for organising the World Cup in the United States. Their omission from the governing body’s 2024 annual report was reported by the British daily The Telegraph. FIFA’s statutes nevertheless state that “the individual remuneration of the FIFA president must be public”.

In 2024, FIFA’s annual report put Infantino’s remuneration at 4.27 million Swiss francs, equivalent to £3.88 million. Separately, a source who shared the accounts told the Times that Infantino had received similar sums, or perhaps more, in 2025 and 2026. Those amounts are presented as the source’s account, while the reported omission concerns the 2024 annual report.
