Mikel Arteta has announced Arsenal’s line-up to face Lille on Tuesday evening in the Champions League. A notable selection decision for Lille is that Olivier Giroud will start among the substitutes. The former Arsenal player is on Lille’s bench for this match.
In the reshaped side, Myles Lewis-Skelly moves to left-back, Bruno Guimarães joins the midfield and Jurriën Timber replaces Ben White at right-back. Mikel Merino is also in midfield and could take on Martin Ødegaard’s role; Ødegaard is among the substitutes. Eberechi Eze and Viktor Gyökeres come into the attack, while Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz are left out of the starting line-up.
The selection comes after Arsenal’s win over Leeds last Saturday. The Sun reports that Arteta’s changes to the side helped turn a deficit into a 2-1 victory. That result offers context for the adjustments announced ahead of the Lille fixture, but does not determine how they will shape this match.
