Michael Olise was sent off in the 73rd minute of Tuesday evening’s Champions League match between Bayern Munich and Viking FK, which finished 3-3. The France international lost his composure and was dismissed after sending the ball towards an opponent’s head. Bayern Munich’s match away to Viking VK ended in a draw in the second round of the Champions League, an unexpected result for the German club.

The incident began with Olise receiving a first yellow card for pulling Henrik Heggheim’s shirt. As a small group of players gathered and the referee showed Olise the card, the Bayern player sent the ball into Zlatko Topic’s head, right in front of the referee. The red card that followed left Bayern Munich without Olise for the remainder of the match.

The German club were leading 3-2 when Olise was sent off, but conceded an equaliser in the 90th minute and let two points slip away. Olise will be suspended for next Wednesday’s match against Arsenal, in the third round of the Champions League.
