Michael Olise’s dismissal is expected to keep him out of Bayern Munich’s next match against Arsenal. The French player was sent off after losing his composure during the match, a setback that will also weigh on Bayern in the days ahead.
Olise had first been booked for pulling Henrik Heggheim’s shirt. Moments later, as the referee showed him the yellow card and several players gathered nearby, Olise sent the ball towards Zlatko Tobić’s head. The referee saw the action and showed him a second yellow, followed by a red card.
The dismissal came while Bayern Munich were leading 3-2. The German side could not hold on to that advantage: they conceded an equaliser in the 90th minute and dropped two valuable points in the competition.
The consequence for Olise is now clear: he is expected to miss Bayern Munich’s much-anticipated match against Arsenal next Wednesday, on matchday three. His sending-off will therefore cost him a place in that fixture, as well as having marked a turning point in Bayern’s match.
