Mbappé’s mother questioned in investigation

Mbappé’s mother is under investigation and has been questioned by judges in a case concerning Mohamed Sanhadji, a former security official for the France team. The magistrates are examining, among other things, whether she asked Sanhadji to intervene to obtain four visas.

Fayza Lamari was named by French justice in the investigation into Sanhadji, who held the role from 2004 to 2026. He has been charged with corruption. L’Équipe reports that Lamari was questioned last Friday and placed under the status of assisted witness, a step before a possible formal charge. The judges believe there are indications of potential involvement in the events, but say they are inconclusive.

Kylian Mbappé was also questioned as part of the investigation while staying in Paris at the end of last month. He had left the France team’s Nations League camp with an injury. For now, his questioning is among the interviews investigators are conducting as they seek to establish alleged criminal activity by Sanhadji, who is also charged with misappropriation of funds and influence-peddling.

The newspaper also reports that Mbappé paid Sanhadji 60,300 euros in 2023, shortly before a trip to Camermún accompanied by the former France team bodyguard. The magistrates are seeking to determine whether the trip was an official or private mission.
