Helmy Toulane has suggested that a psychological factor could explain Zizo’s drop in form with Al Ahly: the player may be affected by his move from Zamalek to its traditional rival. Toulane presented this as a possibility, not a certainty.
The former player also stressed the importance of preparing teams. Appearing on the programme “Ya Massa’ Al Anwar” on MBC Masr, he said a coach must prepare players for the different situations they may face in a match. He added that it is difficult to ask players to carry out tasks they have never practised in training.
Speaking about the latest high-profile match between Al Ahly and Zamalek, Toulane said the white team had not offered enough in attack in the first half. He felt it improved at the start of the second half and managed to impose its superiority during that spell.
Toulane also said he did not believe Ahmed Sayed Zizo’s lateral movements were the result of direct instructions from the head coach. In his view, the player remains psychologically affected by his decision to leave Zamalek for Al Ahly, which could have an impact on his performances on the pitch.
