The Spanish press praised Hamza Abdelkarim after his first goal for Barcelona Atlètic. The Egyptian forward opened the scoring from the penalty spot, giving the reserve side an early lead in a victory that strengthened their position at the top of Group 2. Pedro Rodríguez’s role in the win was also highlighted.
Jesse Bisiwu won the penalty with his movement and dribbling, and Abdelkarim converted it. A Spanish outlet highlighted both players’ performances and Bisiwu’s contribution to winning the spot-kick. The goal came in the sixth minute at Johan Cruyff Stadium, with Abdelkarim driving a powerful, low shot into the right corner of Utebo’s goal.
Barcelona Atlètic now have 19 points, six clear of third-placed Utebo on 13. The result keeps the side on top of Group 2. Another Spanish outlet said Abdelkarim’s successful penalty gave Barcelona Atlètic an early advantage and helped the team play with greater composure. The newspaper also noted some difficulty in attacking understanding between Hamza and teammate Aziz Issa.
Abdelkarim’s appearance for the reserve side came after he was left out of the first-team squad for its match against Real Betis. It gave him another opportunity to demonstrate his ability, and he made it count with his first goal in a Barcelona Atlètic shirt.
