Jensen’s good run continued against Valencia, whose difficulties deepened in Atlético de Madrid’s 4-0 Liga F victory. The result meant Atlético were set to sleep in third place on Friday, a position that would bring European qualification. The club also continued its rise in the standings and was in the Champions League places after another win.

Valencia, meanwhile, sit 20th with 6 points after 9 matches. Across those games, they have 1 win, 3 draws and 5 defeats, with 6 goals scored and 15 conceded. Their record over their last five Liga matches is 1 win, 2 draws and 2 defeats.

Atlético opened the scoring through a move involving Segura and Jensen. After Zubieta’s pass, Celia flicked the ball with her heel into Synne’s path, and she finished low past Pinguet. Jensen was then sent through by Lauren, but her effort from the edge of the arc went over. Valencia did not manage a shot on target and had to cling on in the match.

Atlético extended the lead after the break. Zubieta scored her first goal as a rojiblanca with a direct free kick from the edge of the arc. Fernando Felipo then brought on Climent and Moral; barely a minute later, Gio scored the third, collecting a rebound in Valencia’s defence before beating Pinguet with a left-footed shot. Valencia had a clear chance when Mascarell reached a loose ball in the six-yard area but could not direct her effort on target. Atlético nevertheless finished with a convincing win, as Jensen and her team continued their strong run.
