Nottingham ended its losing run by drawing 1-1 with Ipswich Town at Portman Road in the Premier League. The result temporarily lifts Nottingham Forest out of the relegation zone and gives its under-pressure manager, Oliver Glasner, some breathing room. Mundo Deportivo places promoted Ipswich ninth and says Nottingham had the better chances to take all three points.

Nottingham started with the intention of winning and quickly put the Ipswich defence under pressure. Forest took the lead through Neco Williams, who finished Daniel Muñoz’s cross. But Nikola Milenković then made a costly error with a back pass, allowing Julio Enciso to equalise.

After eight matches, Ipswich Town are ninth in the Premier League with 10 points, while Nottingham are 16th with 6 points, a four-point gap.

Forest appeared to have the game under control as half-time approached, only for that mistake to bring Ipswich back into it. Nottingham continued to threaten whenever it reached the home side’s penalty area. After the break, the visitors remained the more incisive team but could not make their chances count. Leif Davis was especially important for Ipswich, clearing a goal-bound effort at the last moment after Ndoye was left unmarked in the box.

Callum Hudson-Odoi also had an opportunity, but his angled effort went too wide. Ipswich pressed late on and created two chances during the lengthy stoppage time. The expected-goals figures reported by The Guardian — 2.31 for Forest and 0.46 for Ipswich — underline the gap between the visitors’ dominance and the final score. The newspaper judged Ipswich likely to be the happier of the two teams.

The draw has an immediate effect on the table: Ipswich move into the top half, at least until the following day, while Nottingham Forest climb out of the relegation places temporarily, at Coventry City’s expense. Ending a three-match losing streak offers Glasner a respite, but Nottingham’s failure to convert its chances denied the team a more decisive result.
