“The resources will go to the pitch…,” Javier Solís said of Pitchwise’s arrival as a shareholder in Valencia. The club’s general director added that investment could also go towards facilities, depending on where improvements are needed.
Speaking on Movistar, Solís discussed Pitchwise’s purchase of a 42% stake and a capital injection of 100 million euros. He called the arrival “the beginning of a new chapter” and welcomed executives Ann Rodriguez and Corey Woolfolk, whose experience, he said, would benefit the club through their day-to-day work.
Solís also addressed the integration of working methods across the club. He said Anne and Corey would bring improvements and that workflows would need to be brought together to help teams communicate. His message, he stressed, was one of optimism: the market is there, and the club will work to improve the team. He also described Valencia as an attractive proposition in the market.
LaLiga president Javier Tebas also welcomed the deal. He called it very positive for Valencia CF and the city of Valencia, saying it brings capital as well as partners with extensive sports-management experience.
Tebas described the investment as an important step in the transition led by Kiat Lim, who will remain president while Meriton retains the majority stake. He also said that investors of this calibre choosing Valencia CF reflected LaLiga’s appeal to international investment over the long term.
Valencia announced on Friday that Pitchwise Holdings would acquire 42% of the club. Solís put the intended use of the resources at the heart of his remarks, pointing to the pitch and potentially the facilities. Javier Tebas also commented on the sale of part of the club associated with Lim.
