Matchday 9 in Primera Federación Group 1 featured several notable scoring sequences and a difficult second half for Mérida against Coria. Their game, played at the Romano José Fouto stadium in front of 4,022 spectators, saw the home side enjoy its best moments before the break but fail to sustain that momentum afterwards.

A Nacho effort had struck the post, one of the high points for Fran Beltrán’s team. Mérida then faded significantly, allowing Coria to take control with a higher tempo and a setup featuring three central defenders. The visitors did not, however, find the cutting edge to turn that control into goals. Coria was led by Rai Rosa, Mérida’s former coach. Mundo Deportivo notes that his side had never previously lost at the emeritense club’s ground.

David Vigario’s assessment was that, in its first season in the division, Coria had shown it could compete with any team through organisation, courage and its work on the ball. For Mérida, the result meant no fourth consecutive victory. De Santisteban Adame refereed the match. Nacho González and Barbú were booked for Mérida, while Palacín, Blanco, Gallastegi, Jacobo and Jaime Calleja received yellow cards for Coria.

Other scoring sequences from the round included Cortés’s 27th-minute goal, followed by a penalty converted by Rubén Torres to make it 2-0. In another game, Raúl opened the scoring in the 14th minute and Jorge added a second in the 91st. Nacho Gutiérrez also described a match turned around by Morales from two poorly defended corners, before Baselga extended the lead on a quick counterattack.

At Román Suárez Puerta, in front of 3,493 spectators, Monerris was identified as the match’s standout player: his shot put Cobos’s team ahead, and the opposition had a chance to equalise in stoppage time. Príncipe Felipe welcomed 3,854 spectators. Reported crowds also included 6,646 at Reino de León and 1,200 at Stadium Gal.
