Villarreal and Getafe seek a response at La Cerámica

Villarreal host Getafe on Sunday, November 8 at 6:30 p.m. at La Cerámica, in round 12 of LaLiga EA Sports. Both teams arrive after European defeats and will be looking to regain momentum: Villarreal were beaten 6-0 by Paris Saint-Germain, while Getafe lost 1-0 to Brighton. The match will be shown live on DAZN.

Getafe’s defeat to Brighton came after a league win over Sevilla (3-1). But this away fixture tests a side still looking for a victory away from the Coliseum. Villarreal, meanwhile, are seeking a response after their last two home defeats against Espanyol and, above all, the heavy loss to PSG in the Champions League.

The standings add another dimension: both clubs have 12 points, but Villarreal are 11th and Getafe 15th. After 11 league matches, Villarreal have three wins, three draws and five defeats, with 15 goals scored and the same number conceded. Getafe have the same results record, but have scored eight goals and conceded 16. Each side has also recorded two wins, a draw and two defeats in its last five league matches.

Their records by venue provide a notable contrast. Villarreal have won one of their five home league matches, drawing one and losing three, with six goals scored and seven conceded. Getafe, by contrast, are unbeaten at home in six matches, with three wins and three draws. Their away record is very different: five defeats from five, no goals scored and 12 conceded. Villarreal, for their part, have two wins, two draws and two defeats in six away matches.

The league scoring averages underline the difference in attack: Villarreal score and concede 1.36 goals per match, compared with Getafe’s 0.73 scored and 1.45 conceded. The fixture therefore brings together two teams level on points but with contrasting records depending on whether they play at home or away.
