Jamal Sellami has been appointed Al-Fateh’s coach. The Saudi club is handing the team to the Moroccan manager, who replaces Khaled Al-Atwi and is due to begin his work in the coming days.
Al-Fateh have endured a difficult start to the season: the team have collected just 3 points from a possible 21 and sit fifteenth in the standings. The club announced on Thursday that it had ended its partnership with Al-Atwi by mutual agreement, citing poor results.
Al-Fateh’s management finalised its agreement with Sellami after securing the required approvals. The coach has arrived in Saudi Arabia to take up his new role quickly. His first assignment will be a league match against Al-Ahli on Friday. He will make his touchline debut in that fixture, scheduled for the eighth round, and will be tasked with getting the team back on track.
Before this appointment, the latest stage of Sellami’s coaching career had been with a national team. He led it to qualification for the final phase of the 2026 World Cup, a first in that team’s history.
