Filipe Luis spoke about Ansu Fati on Friday, on the eve of Monaco’s Ligue 1 match against Toulouse. The Brazilian coach addressed the subject at a news conference as he prepared to announce his squad for the game, which comes as the league resumes.
There is considerable interest in whether Fati will be included: the forward has yet to appear in an official match this season after a calf problem during pre-season.
“He is very special, very talented and extremely dangerous near the opposition’s box. He is notably calm when making decisions, unlike other players who are more nervous. That is why he scores so many goals and provides so many assists,” Filipe Luis said.
The coach also stressed that Fati needs to build up playing time. “His last official match was five months ago, so obviously he needs minutes,” he said, adding that Fati had a good first half against Pisa. He described him as having stayed close to Matthis Abline and the area.
Fati still needs more time on the pitch to develop, particularly in making use of space, the coach continued, saying the team was delighted to have him back. Competition for a place in attack is now very fierce at Monaco, however.
