“Perhaps it wasn’t the best day,” Terzic admitted, striking a self-critical note after Tuesday’s open training session at Lezama. Athletic had invited its supporters to watch, but attendance was limited. Terzic is aware that holding the session on a working day affected the turnout.
Speaking at a press conference, he compared it with a session held during pre-season: “It was clear to me: the children didn’t have school, and Lezama was full of people.” He also said he was “used to” having spectators at training.
The coach had considered the break a “good moment” to repeat the experience. He would like to hold open sessions regularly, while choosing a time that allows the players to work hard and gives supporters a chance to build a closer relationship with the team.
“It was a regular Tuesday session. We wanted to give something back to the people and open the doors to everyone, but we realised that perhaps it wasn’t the best day. We’ll take that into account in the future,” he concluded. Terzic said they would look for a more suitable date during the next break.
