Hull City and Everton drew 2-2 in a match that burst into life after the break. David Moyes’s side responded to Gelhardt’s opening goal and went ahead, but Hull City eventually fought back through Belloumi. Four goals were scored in 25 minutes after a first half short on chances and precision in the final third.
Everton had started with more initiative and looked more comfortable on the ball. Hull City gradually made the contest more even, although clear chances remained scarce before half-time. Three minutes after the restart, a mistake by Maitland-Niles allowed the hosts to take the lead: Sorba Thomas played in Gelhardt, who beat Pickford with a delicate chip.
Maitland-Niles then made amends by setting up Dewsbury-Hall for the equaliser. Barry put Everton ahead at 2-1, but Hull City responded just as the visitors seemed to have taken control. Belloumi eventually brought the home side level. McBurnie was booked in the 21st minute.
The draw leaves Everton unbeaten and provisionally fifth on ten points. Hull City are ninth on nine points, with the matchday still to be completed.
