Almería made it six consecutive victories with a 3-0 win over Leganés. Castellón’s defeat allowed the Andalusian side to move into second place. Almería also remains unbeaten at home and has now won five home games in a row.
All three goals came within just eight minutes of the second half. Introduced after the break by García Pimienta, Miguel de la Fuente scored twice against his former club. Chirino added the other goal. Almería extended its advantage, while Luca Zidane prevented Leganés from suffering a heavier defeat with three saves from long-range efforts by Melamed, Arribas and Morcillo.
Before half-time, a header from a Chirino cross had already brought Luca Zidane into action, although the goalkeeper gathered the ball without much trouble. Leganés offered little threat at the other end: Naim’s only attempt was a shot from outside the area, comfortably held by Andrés Fernández.
The third goal followed a quick counterattack. Quim Junyent supplied Chirino, who finished with a powerful right-footed strike. With the winning streak continuing and second place secured, Almería is maintaining its push towards promotion.
