Mallorca took advantage of Las Palmas’ mistakes to claim a 3-1 win in the 9th round of LaLiga Hypermotion. Goals from Pablo Torre, Sala and Fuentes brought the club back to winning ways and kept it in touch with the automatic promotion places.
Played at Estadio Mallorca Son Moix in front of 16,229 spectators, the match was largely controlled by the home side. Las Palmas ceded possession and offered little threat to Arnau Tenas, apart from an early attempt by Kirian Rodríguez. Mallorca, however, struggled to find a way through a compact defence. Its first clear chance came beyond the halfway point of the first half, and Pablo Torre converted it.
After the break, Mallorca quickly extended its lead. Las Palmas then found renewed energy, but an error in playing out from the back allowed Sergi Darder to send Adrián Fuentes through; Fuentes lifted the ball over the goalkeeper to score. Mallorca had also thought it had added a second through Álex Sala, but a VAR review ruled out the move for Adrián Liso’s offside.
The win puts Mallorca fourth on 17 points, four behind Almería, which occupies the final automatic promotion place.
