Betis have made the best league start in their history and equalled their 1935 record. Sunday’s 5-2 victory over Osasuna took them to 19 points after the first eight rounds of La Liga, with six wins, one draw and one defeat. Manuel Pellegrini’s side have matched the record from the opening eight games of the 1934/35 season, the only campaign in which Betis won the league title.
That start put Betis at the top of the table in that campaign, and they stayed there until they were crowned champions. The win over Osasuna also extended the team’s strong home form. Since their last league defeat on home soil, a 3-5 loss to FC Barcelona on 6 December 2025, Pellegrini’s men have strung together ten wins and five draws, including seven consecutive victories in their latest appearances.
Betis’ best home unbeaten run in the Primera División dates back to a period between January 1983 and September 1984. Across those 21 months, the club went 26 Liga matches without defeat at the Benito Villamarín; that mark still stands, and the run ended following a visit from FC Barcelona.
