Jon Rahm now has a date for his return to competition. He is expected to make his comeback at the Abu Dhabi Aldar Championship, from 5 to 8 November, a tournament he has never played before. If all goes well, he would then be in Dubai the following week. The expected return comes after he withdrew from the Open de España because he was about to become a father. He also has no intention of continuing with LIV Golf next year, according to the reported information.
Rahm did not want to miss the event at Club de Campo: he had committed to the DP World Tour to play a certain number of its tournaments this season. But his return also carries sporting significance. After missing the cut at the BMW PGA Championship a few weeks ago and then being unable to play in the Open de España, he has not added points to the Race to Dubai, the tour’s annual standings.
He is currently 46th, while only the top 50 qualify for the Dubai final. The Abu Dhabi Aldar Championship is limited to the top 70. Rahm must at least compete there to secure a place in the DP World Tour Championship. The Abu Dhabi and Dubai events that close the season, known as the DP World Tour Play-Offs, award 9,000 and 12,000 points respectively. In November, the «León de Barrika» will also play the Abu Dhabi Championship.
