Rubén de la Barrera’s dismissal has triggered a domino effect in Las Palmas’ coaching structure. Juan Manuel Rodríguez, previously in charge of Las Palmas Atlético, is taking over the LaLiga Hypermotion team on a temporary basis. He is due to be presented at a press conference at Ciudad Deportiva on Tuesday at 3 p.m., before leading his first training session with the professionals two hours later.
The changes also affect Las Palmas Atlético. José Antonio Robaina is moving from Las Palmas C to take temporary charge of the reserve side, accompanied by the same coaching staff that had been working with the team.
In a statement, UD Las Palmas said the first-team coach’s departure, decided on Monday night, had led to “adjustments” in the academy’s organisational structure. The club said the changes would “allow the youth teams’ work to continue during this transitional period in the entity’s technical structure”.
The temporary reshuffle therefore puts Rodríguez in charge of the first team and Robaina at the helm of Las Palmas Atlético, while the youth teams continue their work through the transition.
