Modric has Swansea dreaming: the club lead the Championship after collecting 20 points in the opening nine rounds. They have also conceded the fewest goals, with 7, and kept the most clean sheets, with 4.
Swansea City are looking to shed their “ugly duckling” image and become a “swan” again. Luka Modric is driving much of that transformation. Memories of the “Spanish Swansea” remain, while the club appear to be moving in the right direction once more.
Vítor Matos, who has renewed his contract until 2030, highlighted the connection between the club and its community: “From the moment I arrived, I could feel how powerful the connection between Swansea City, its fans and the community is. Last season we laid good foundations, but now we have to look ahead, keep working and keep progressing.” Before joining Swansea, he had just secured promotion with Marítimo.
Modric’s involvement in the project took shape in April 2025, when he joined the club as an investor and co-owner. He described it as an exciting opportunity and said he hoped to contribute positively to the club’s growth, bringing his experience to help build its future.
