Zamalek is continuing its preparations in Rwanda for its meeting with the Rwandan Army in the Champions League. On Wednesday evening, the first team trained on the auxiliary pitch at Amahoro Stadium in Kigali, ahead of the first leg of the African competition’s second preliminary round. The session formed part of the club’s preparations to face the Rwandan champions.
The players first met with the technical staff. They were encouraged to aim for a positive result against the Army, and were also briefed on the day’s training programme. The opening part of the session thus addressed both the preparation instructions and the immediate challenge of the away first leg.
Physical work followed under Portuguese fitness coach Nuno Costa Ribeiro. The players ran around the pitch before moving on to a few light exercises with the ball. The session therefore combined athletic work with ball practice as Zamalek continued its preparation for the Kigali fixture.
With the meeting, running and ball work completed, the team continued its preparations ahead of facing the Army. The first leg of the second preliminary round is the club’s next stated challenge in this African campaign.
