Inter defend top spot with trip to Bologna

The seventh round of the Italian championship puts Inter Milan at the heart of the race for the summit: top of the table on 16 points, the club will visit Bologna on Saturday, the day after tomorrow, seeking to hold on to first place. Inter share their points total with Lazio but lead on goal difference. Bologna, meanwhile, are fourteenth on 4 points and will be looking for a win to climb the standings.

The round also features other important fixtures for the leading sides. Roma, third on 14 points, will host Genoa on Saturday. They will be looking for victory to stay in the fight for first place. In the current season, Roma had surrendered the lead after drawing twice, against Inter Milan and Como, while remaining unbeaten.

Lazio, also on 16 points, travel to Juventus next Sunday. They have not lost since the start of the season, just like Inter Milan and Roma. These fixtures could therefore shape the pecking order at the top, where several teams remain close in the standings.
