Milan regained momentum in the Europa League with a 4-0 away win over Salzburg on Thursday in the second round of the league phase. At the Red Bull Arena Salzburg, the Italian side secured a commanding result that took them to three points and eleventh place.

Alphadjo Cissé was at the heart of Milan’s win. He scored in the 15th and 32nd minutes, then completed his hat-trick in the 49th. Substitute Gonçalo Ramos added the fourth goal in the 72nd minute. The run of goals gave Milan a clear advantage, which they maintained until the final whistle.

The result gives the Italian club a response after its home defeat to Benfica in the opening round. Milan has now picked up points in the competition and sits eleventh after two matches.

Salzburg had opened the league phase with an away victory over Levski Sofia. The defeat to Milan was therefore its first loss in the campaign, leaving the Austrian club on three points in eighteenth place. Both sides have the same points total, but Milan is ahead in the standings after the second round.
