Conceição calls Salah a “legend” and addresses Juventus’ struggles

Francisco Conceição has responded to the comparison between himself and Mohamed Salah made by his Juventus coach, Luciano Spalletti. He paid tribute to the Egyptian forward: “Salah is a legend among the legends of football.” Conceição added that he learns from many players and, still young, is working to keep improving.

Spalletti had previously coached Salah at Roma in Serie A. Juventus signed Conceição in the summer of 2025 for more than 32 million euros.

The Portuguese player says he feels comfortable at the club, with the trust of his coach, teammates and other staff members. But at 23, he admits he is not fully satisfied with the results: “the team is not winning, and that is a reality”. He said expectations at Juventus are extremely high and that the side must correct certain details to achieve its objectives.

After the 1-1 league draw with Cagliari, Conceição had also highlighted the challenge of breaking down compact defences. “Facing teams that put 11 players behind the ball is a very difficult challenge,” he said, stressing the importance of small details. In his view, greater attacking efficiency could improve the team’s chances of winning.

Juventus are currently sixth in the Italian league after six rounds. Conceição’s call for improvement is therefore tied to a clear concern: turning chances into results.
