Vitinha has said he wants Cristiano Ronaldo to return to Portugal’s national team and recent tensions within the squad to ease. The Paris Saint-Germain player voiced his support for his compatriot after a crisis that saw the captain leave Portugal’s camp in Denmark and later issue a statement criticising coach Jorge Jesus.

After Paris Saint-Germain’s 4-2 win over Manchester City, Vitinha described the latest international break as unsettled and full of emotion. “Yes, the international break was indeed somewhat turbulent and brought a lot of emotions,” he acknowledged.

The Portuguese midfielder is hoping the dispute can now be resolved positively. “For my part, I hope things will be resolved in the best possible way, that Ronaldo will return and everything will be fine. I think that’s what we all want. I hope it happens, that he comes back and everything ends well,” he said.

Portugal’s captain is subject to disciplinary measures amid the crisis. Vitinha did not detail those measures, but his wish is clear: for Ronaldo to return to the national team and for the situation to be resolved positively.
