Ali Al-Bulaihi was sent off in the match between Al-Shabab and Al-Taawoun, a red card that takes him into the history of the Roshn League. His team had to finish the game with 10 men, while the incident brought renewed attention to his disciplinary record.

Since the 2009-2010 season, the defender has reportedly accumulated 5 dismissals in the Saudi Pro League, putting him level with 8 other players in second place on the list. Mohammed Al-Khabrani leads with 7 red cards over the same period; Al-Bulaihi and eight other players have 5 each.

The dismissal also came amid a notable run between the two teams: each of their last four meetings has featured a red card. Ali Al-Bulaihi, Abdullah Matouq, Mohammed Al-Shuwaiykh and Brazilian André Girotto are among the players sent off in those matches.

For Al-Shabab, the decision also had an immediate effect on the pitch: the club lost a defensive player early in the match against Al-Taawoun. For Al-Bulaihi, the red card adds to his record in the Saudi Pro League.
