Madrileño and Real Zaragoza drew 4-4 in Primera Federación at Ciudad Deportiva de Alcalá. After appearing to take control, Madrileño conceded an equaliser in the 110th minute. Fernando Torres’s team stood up to the competition’s leading promotion candidate, but the match also exposed its lack of experience.
Madrileño moved ahead at 2-1 through Marc Domènech, who finished off a surging run by Romeo. Domènech had, however, missed a one-on-one chance shortly after an equaliser. Real Zaragoza threatened through a double opportunity for Jardí and Pereira in the 53rd minute, but neither shot found the net.
The second half also brought an injury to Antal, which gave Lis his debut. In the 62nd minute, David García conceded a penalty after bringing down Jamelli, but Astralaga saved it. Madrileño then saw its lead disappear: Espiau’s cross found Iranzo, who equalised for Real Zaragoza.
The closing stages were especially eventful. After conceding twice in the final three minutes, Madrileño saw Zaragoza fight back, while Rubo headed in a goal to make it 4-3. The final 4-4 summed up a match in which Madrileño’s performance was overshadowed by its inability to protect its advantage.
